Who Am I?

Hi I'm Julian Gebauer  – a materials scientist! I´ve finished my studies at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2019. Currently I´m working as a PhD candidate and research assistant at KIT IAM-AWP.

Beside my studies I work as a volleyball youth coach ('DOSB-Trainer C Leistungssport') for SSC Karlsruhe and partially for Nordbadischer Volleyball-Verband and ARGE BAWÜ.

Started in 2017, I´ve finished my master studies by december 2019.

I set my priorities in the research areas of fiber reinforced composites and materials for electrical and electronical engineering.

My master thesis at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology is titled 'Characterization of the load introduction into complex robot-based wound continuous fiber reinforcements for thermoplastic structural components'

I´ve finished my bachelor studies in 2017 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

My bachelor thesis at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology is titled 'Influence on the flow behavior and the mechanical properties of jute reinforced BMC'

Research Assistant and PhD candidate at the Institute for Applied Materials - Applied Materials Physics 2020-today

I work on a joint research project with TU Bergakademie Freiberg investigating new refractory composites for a new generation of plugs and shields in steel industrie and turbines.

My research work contains

Student Assistant at Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology 2019-2020

I work on research projects analyzing local continuous fiber reinforcements.

My research work contains

  • concepting and designing a new testing fixture
  • process optimization for a KUKA robot based winding cell including KUKA Robot Language editing
  • processing of hybrid polymer glass fiber yarns into local continous fiber reinforcements
  • porcessing of wound structures in injection molding
  • mechanical, physical and optical characterization

Working student at Intelligent Media Systems AG 2017-2018

I worked on two main topics: process management and incident management

The process management contained

  • selection, introduction, administration and maintenance of a software to picture and improve the processes within the companies departments
  • write the requirements for JIRA and Confluence at the sales area and realize them in the software products

The incident management contained

  • customer contact in case of incidents
  • review of incomming incidents
  • contact customers for discussing solutions
  • write and communicate reports to the developement and quality assurance departement
